There are business processes in every organization. After all, there are any tasks that need to be done according to requirements in every organization. As a Salesforce Admin, the use cases that we can automate generally fall into two categories: interactive experiences and behind-the-scenes automation. We choose how to automate based on the requirements of the business process.

Interactive Experiences the Power of Automation in Salesforce

If our business process needs input from a user, we can use one of the following features.

  • Screen Flows: To create an interaction that shows info and asks our users questions, can be achieved by flow builder.
  • Autolaunched Flows: To create automation that can be run when a button is clicked then we can use flow builder. Other automation can also execute it.
  • Approval Processes: we can create a series of steps with assigned approvers. Those steps can do tasks automatically such as locking and updating records. When we clicked on a button then an approval process can run manually, or automatically, when it’s invoked by another automation.
  • Lightning Components: To build an interactive component we can use HTML and JavaScript code that we can embed in an app or a page.

Behind-the-Scenes Automation

If our business process should start and execute automatically and run behind the scenes, such as when a record changes, we have various types of solutions to choose from.

  • Record-Triggered Flows: we can use Flow Builder to achieve automation that runs whenever a record is created, edited, or deleted.
  • Schedule-Triggered Flows: When we want to run the automation at a specific time then we can use Flow Builder.
  • Platform Event-Triggered Flows: When a platform event message is received then we can use Flow Builder to create automation that runs.
  • Apex: For reusable blocks of automation we can use Apex code. We can trigger this code in different ways.
